It's so funny being on the West Coast now and I have to realize that some things just will not get done as and when promised, my fault. Trying to do too much. Got my hot mess layout under control--more later on this. Adding about 10-11 maintaining bloggers and it just takes so much time. Thank you for your patience and it will be ready tomorrow and then next week on a regular schedule as before.

Anxious
I just thought that I would check-in, wish everyone Happy New Year and let you all know how I am doing. I am feeling very anxious, I thought would have a full time job by now and that has not panned out. I had a great interview at a major academic institution last Wednesday, so we will see. Let me get my stats out of the way first.
Current weight: 169 lbs
Highest weight: 216 lbs
Comfortable weight: 150 lbs
Goal weight: 125 lbs
I am getting comfortable in California. The weather is wonderful with no complaints in this department. Spinning classes have saved my life. I have been spinning 5-7 days a week. My weight is up but I am not panicking--I know it's my anxiousness and stress. I have been running (a little) and walking a lot more. I know that I am eating more calories (being around family does this). But I am very proud to say that I made it through my third holiday season without sugar. Yes, still no sugar. I have been trying to watch my red meat and am contemplating giving it up, nothing definitive yet (but age will play a huge part in this). I am sure this is where most of my extra calories are with carbohydrates. Anyway, it's always a work a progress. I guess I am just trying to get the message across that nothing is ever that bad and there were several bloggers last year who fell off just before my move across the country. I wanted to write something about this but I just couldn't speak to a recent stressful situation in my life since I had hit my goal weight. Yeah, a little keeping up with my Dad's health across the country. So I felt that I could write about this now; quitting my job, applying for new positions in a new state, moving myself across the country, dealing with my 80+ year old parents' health, living with a relatives, working retail part time and on and on. I am a creature of habit and I have no set schedule which also creates stress in my life. I am doing my best and exercising a lot, which helps. I just wanted to state all of this to say that it's never that bad, just keep it moving; literally.
I will return officially next week with all the aggregating of maintenance bloggers you all can stand. Have missed you all!!!!

Hiatus
I am settling in fine but this is the second Wednesday that has come and gone and I just couldn't attend to Maintainingmaintaining. I started right away working retail at Papyrus. I was working part time for American Greetings in Virginia and transferred to California. Well, one store could only give me about 10-15 hours per week and they asked if I would mind getting more hours with another store. So I am working about 20-30 hours/week out of 2 stores. It's hectic but that's not all. So as you all probably figured out, I left my professional position without a position in California. I have been disenchanted with my profession for a few years now. I have been in 3 positions in the last 6 years and none of them were what the job specifications indicated well, maybe one but then the Director who hired me, left within 6 weeks and I was left working for someone who really didn't like me. What a mess!!! So after Job #3 fell off the rails, I just sort of threw my hands up and said,"There's got to be something better for me to do!!" So I thought I would become a freelance researcher or just started applying for positions that were not in a "library." Well, I am living with my nephew and his wife, my niece. She has been in the Beauty business for over 20 years and recently changed companies to work part time--mommy of my 3 year old grand nephew. She also has a joint venture happening with her best friend--skin care and toddlers. At the time I was moving my parents here, she was approached to be the national sales director for a new luxury, celebrity driven product. She mentioned that she had too much on her plate and that I would be perfect for this with her coaching. She is well known in the industry and has tons of contacts. The Brand is thrilled to have her in any capacity so, now it's official and I am the sales executive for said luxury product. A typical day we are all going about 15 hours non stop. I got over to my parent's place to check on my Dad this evening at 8:30 pm and had a great visit. Just trying to get in everything that I can.
My daughter is all settled in San Francisco apartment and her household goods arrived on Tuesday evening. She lived at her hotel for 6 weeks and was ready to finally sign a lease and sleep in her own bed.
I plan to weigh in once a month and blog it. It's the best I can do until I get organized with respect to getting my blog done weekly. I am coming up on my 1st Blogaversary and had set some goals that I will blog about next week, I am so excited about this.
Anyway, life is definitely an adventure to be lived and I am surely living it.

An Update
So I am back to my regular routine, for now!! I got my parents moved from Las Vegas, NV to Southern California and they are very comfortable and happy. My daughter's possible position in San Francisco has been put on hold and she is now living with me. I am at this time looking at my options for moving to the Southern California area. I did really well while away from my regular routine. I only got to run once in almost 3 weeks but I constantly watched and calculated what I was putting into my mouth. But this is not to say that I didn't "work-out" each and every day. Has anyone calculated the calories burned for packing, moving and unpacking. Well, I can tell you that it is a work-out, packing up their apartment and unpacking in their new digs within a span of 4 days. It was just me and the movers on the Las Vegas side and then I had my nephews and a niece on the Southern California side to help but it was a lot of work. There are a few challenges ahead and I had some personal goals for myself that I will continue to work toward in the midst of all this. Check back tomorrow for A Maintainer's World Wednesday!!
